Overview

  • Removes traffic lights on SR 500 at Northeast Falk Road/Northeast 42nd Avenue and Northeast Stapleton Road/Northeast 54th Avenue
  • Builds cul-de-sacs at Northeast Falk Road/Northeast 42nd Avenue and Northeast Stapleton Road/Northeast 54th Avenue
  • Maintains pedestrian and bicycle crossing at Northeast Falk Road/Northeast 42nd Avenue
  • Installs new grade-separated pedestrian and bicycle crossing at SR 500 at Northeast Stapleton Road/Northeast 54th Avenue

What the concept will do

Safety
  • Reduces crashes by up to 90 percent
Improved travel times
  • Greatly improves travel times on SR 500 by eliminating traffic lights
  • Reduces SR 500 traffic delays by up to 100 percent
Access to SR 500
  • Eliminates vehicle access to and from SR 500 at Northeast Falk Road/Northeast 42nd Avenue and Northeast Stapleton Road/Northeast 54th Avenue
  • Increases trips on Northeast Fourth Plain Boulevard, Northeast St. Johns Road and Northeast Andresen Road
  • To get on, off, or across SR 500, drivers would have to use Northeast St. Johns Road or Northeast Andresen Road
Cost Effectiveness
  • This concept would cost about $3–4 million
