Overview
- Removes traffic lights on SR 500 at Northeast Falk Road/Northeast 42nd Avenue and Northeast Stapleton Road/Northeast 54th Avenue
- Builds cul-de-sacs at Northeast Falk Road/Northeast 42nd Avenue and Northeast Stapleton Road/Northeast 54th Avenue
- Maintains pedestrian and bicycle crossing at Northeast Falk Road/Northeast 42nd Avenue
- Installs new grade-separated pedestrian and bicycle crossing at SR 500 at Northeast Stapleton Road/Northeast 54th Avenue
What the concept will do
Safety
- Reduces crashes by up to 90 percent
Improved travel times
- Greatly improves travel times on SR 500 by eliminating traffic lights
- Reduces SR 500 traffic delays by up to 100 percent
Access to SR 500
- Eliminates vehicle access to and from SR 500 at Northeast Falk Road/Northeast 42nd Avenue and Northeast Stapleton Road/Northeast 54th Avenue
- Increases trips on Northeast Fourth Plain Boulevard, Northeast St. Johns Road and Northeast Andresen Road
- To get on, off, or across SR 500, drivers would have to use Northeast St. Johns Road or Northeast Andresen Road
Cost Effectiveness
- This concept would cost about $3–4 million
